Bowers Makes It Two in a Row on Friday Night in Baltimore
Jim Neese Grabs Arenacross Lites Class Victory
BALTIMORE,
Md.
(January 15, 2010) – The second round of the AMA Arenacross Series
kicked off in fine fashion on Friday night from Baltimore’s 1st
Mariner Arena. An enthusiastic crowd was on hand to witness Babbitt’s
Monster Energy/Ti Lube Kawasaki’s Tyler Bowers, of Danville, Ky., take
his second straight win. Foremost Insurance Yamaha’s Jim Neese, of
Julian, N.C., raced to a well-deserved AMA Arenacross Lites class
victory.
As the premier AMA Arenacross
class blasted out of the gates for its Friday night main event,
Spinechillers/Storm Lake Honda’s Nathan Skaggs, of Chillicothe, Ohio,
Babbitt’s Monster Energy/Ti Lube Kawasaki’s Josh Demuth, of North
Richland Hills, Texas, Tuf Honda’s Brock Sellards, of Sherodsville,
Ohio, and Jackson Performance KTM’s Kelly Smith, of Ludington, Mich.,
led the field. Bowers was forced to overcome a bad start, but quickly
mad his way to the front of the pack. Smith experienced bike issues
early in the main, and was forced to drop out while running third. As
Bowers made the move on Skaggs, who won his heat race earlier in the
evening, Demuth and Sellards were engaged in a stellar battle for
third. In the final corner, the duo came together with Demuth coming
out on the better end while Sellards dropped back to ninth. Skaggs
followed Bowers across the line while Demuth held on for third.
Neese
capitalized on his veteran experience to take control of the AMA
Arenacross Lites class and in the end, held off his hard charging
teammate Tyler Bright, of Lexington, N.C., and Factory Pech Racing
Kawasaki’s Devon Pilkington, of Virginia Beach, Va., in third.
The Baltimore Arenacross continues tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. ET.
