Surprise Attack
After winning the first round of the series, Bowers came to Baltimore with momentum.
At Round 2 on Friday night, Bowers started off the night on the right foot taking the win in
the Dash for Cash. After the gate dropped in the main event, Bowers found himself mid-pack,
but put his head down and fought his way to the front of the pack. Once out front he never
looked back until the checkers, and took home his second-consecutive win of the season.
The following night at Round 3, Bowers finished on the podium in the runner-up spot.
"I started out the weekend pretty strong," said Bowers. "On Friday night, I started out around
fifth and immediately began making some aggressive passes. The track was pretty tight, so
everyone was packed in really close. I maneuvered into second behind Demuth and just kept
the pressure on him. I made a couple attempts to get around him, but just couldn't get them
to stick at first. I had to launch a surprise attack to get around him. I just came out of nowhere,
and ended up getting around him. After that I just tried to avoid the lappers, who were pretty bad.
It was tough getting around lappers who were trying to make passes themselves. Overall it was a
good race, I was happy to win on Friday night with my parents in the stands."
Heated Battle
Demuth got off to a great start on Friday night by grabbing the holeshot on his KX250F. He led
for several laps, holding off the pack until Bowers moved into second. Demuth battled with
Bowers for several laps, fending off numerous pass attempts until he made an error that allowed
Bowers by. Demuth ended the night on the podium in second place. On Saturday, Demuth got a
mid-pack start and finished the race in fourth place.
Rounding Out the Sweep
On Friday night, Johnson got a mid-pack start and began picking off riders. He moved his way
through the field into third, behind teammates Bowers and Demuth. Johnson finished on the
box in third place, completing Babbitt's Monster Energy Amsoil Kawasaki's podium sweep of
Round 2. On Saturday, Johnson got another mid-pack start and finished in sixth.
Forward to Wisconsin
Next weekend, Babbitt's Monster Energy Amsoil Kawasaki's Arenacross team heads to Round 4
of the AMA Arenacross series at Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wis. Bowers hopes to get back
on top of the podium to stretch his points lead. Currently sitting third in the points, Demuth looks
to grab his first win of the season and move into the number two spot on the leaderboard. Johnson
aims to get back on the box and continue his march up the leaderboard.
